December 2025. The high-tech business park Evolution Free Zone is home to Forj Medical’s modern plant, which integrates state-of-the-art manufacturing lines for the automated and manual assembly of finished medical components and devices.
Forj Medical is a global contract design and manufacturing organization (CDMO) resulting from the merger of two manufacturers, Intricon and Minnetronix Medical. It announced today that it has started the equipment phase for its new 5,000 m² manufacturing plant, located in Evolution Free Zone.
“The investment made by Forj Medical reaffirms the evolution of Costa Rica’s medical device ecosystem toward more sophisticated processes and added value. It also demonstrates the ability of the country to offer a competitive operating environment, supported by highly qualified talent, high-standard production infrastructure, and an institutional framework that facilitates integration into strictly regulated global supply chains. The Ministry of Foreign Trade appreciates the confidence placed in Costa Rica and reiterates our commitment to a modern, competitive investment climate geared toward trade facilitation,” said Indiana Trejos, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade.

“Costa Rica is a fundamental pillar of our global network,” said Jeremy Maniak, Executive Director of Forj Medical. “By combining extensive experience in system and component design with advanced automation and assembly, we help our original equipment manufacturer (OEM) clients solve complex challenges, expand production with confidence, and bring innovative technologies to patients faster.”
For Carlos Wong, Managing Director of CODE Development Group, developer of Evolution Free Zone, “it is a real privilege that Forj Medical has announced plans to open its advanced manufacturing plant in our business park.”
“Evolution Free Zone offers an environment designed to promote business success. It is a park that integrates smart and sustainable buildings and infrastructure, developed under the most demanding international standards. Our business model allows companies with highly sophisticated processes, such as Forj Medical, to operate from Costa Rica efficiently, securely, and with global reach,” said Wong.
Forj Medical will be the first company in the country engaged in the manufacture of customized electromagnetic sensors, biosensor devices, and microelectronic medical devices, equipped with a globally integrated supply chain and processes certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Production will include coil winding, cable assembly, and other services.
It will also feature a large clean room for the production of devices used in surgical navigation, electrophysiology, diabetes, drug delivery, cardiovascular applications, advanced optical applications, and many other applications.
“Costa Rica has taken a leap forward in the sophistication of processes associated with the manufacture of medical devices. Evidence of this is that companies such as Forj Medical are establishing themselves in the country to develop surgical navigation technologies, biosensors, and microelectronics, confirming the strength and diversity of a sector that today accounts for 48% of our exports of goods and has grown by nearly 30% as of October this year. Our talent, infrastructure, and ecosystem enable this industry to reach new levels of precision, innovation, and global reach,” concluded Laura López, General Manager of the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER).
