This year was shaped by the arrival of new companies, new developments, and collective efforts that reinforced our vision and further positioned Evolution Free Zone as the Fastest- Growing Business Ecosystem in Costa Rica.

DECEMBER
- Intricon, now Forj Medical, announces plans to open its advanced manufacturing plant
Forj Medical established a 5,000 m² advanced manufacturing facility at Evolution Free Zone, becoming the first company in Costa Rica dedicated to the production of specialized biosensors and electromagnetic sensors. This milestone strengthened the park’s MedTech ecosystem by introducing highly sophisticated processes for surgical navigation and microelectronics.
- Trelleborg Medical Solution’s new Medical Device manufacturing plant begins operations
Trelleborg Medical Solutions opened its new 10,000 m² of footprint manufacturing plant. This facility, provides integrated capabilities including liquid silicone rubber molding and assembly, establishing a key nearshoring and supply chain base for North American and global markets.
NOVEMBER
- Next-Generation Multitenant Building launch
We successfully launched our next-generation Multitenant Building, a modular facility of 11,668 m² of footprint, design to provide unmatched flexibility and scalability for diverse tenants. The building incorporated smart, sustainable infrastructure, including redundant utilities, reinforcing our commitment to high-performance and green operations.
- Segex – Strategic logistics partner integration
The strategic arrival of Segex, a leading Costa Rican logistics company specialized in the Life Sciences sector, significantly strengthened our supplier network. This partnership delivered high-compliance logistics services (including inventory management and regulatory oversight), directly supporting the operational excellence and growth of our MedTech clients within their new 7,500 m² of footprint tailor-made facility.
OCTOBER
- First anniversary
Marking our first year of operation, the Park reached a key milestone by consolidating eight global companies within our business ecosystem. This success secured the commitment to generate initially over 6,000 high-quality direct jobs for the Western Region, reinforcing our role as a catalyst for economic and social development. Over the next 15 years, the companies operating in Evolution Free Zone are expected to offer more than 20,000 high-quality job opportunities.
- Positioned as the Fastest-Growing Business Ecosystem
With an infrastructure investment of nearly US$75 million across our first two development phases and eight world-class leading companies (OEMs and key suppliers) confirmed, we consolidated our position as the Fastest-Growing Business Ecosystem in Costa Rica.
- First On-Site INA technical training center
We established a strategic alliance with the National Learning Institute (INA) to develop an on-site Center of Excellence in Metalworking and a training space. This made us the first Business Park in Costa Rica to offer an INA Center on-site, providing specialized technical and operational programs tailored to the high-demand skills needed by our Life Sciences and Smart Manufacturing tenants.
AUGUST
- Major reforestation initiative in the Western Region
In alliance with the Poás Local Government, we successfully planted over 3,000 native trees in Chilamate de Poás community, strengthening ecological connectivity in an important water recharge area and involving over 190 volunteers from our team and companies located in Evolution Free Zone, demonstrating our commitment to regional biodiversity and sustainability.
MAY
- Switchback Medical a high-complexity device manufacturing
Switchback Medical, a company specializing in minimally invasive Medical Devices, will establish its first expansion outside the U.S. in Evolution Free Zone. This new high-volume plant, added crucial vertically integrated capabilities (from design to production), strongly reinforcing our business ecosystem’s position in the manufacturing of high-complexity devices.
APRIL
- AVNA – Official start of operations and Technology Award
The official start of operations by AVNA INC. in our Park was celebrated, backed by a US$5.5 million investment and a plan to create around 200 new jobs. Their 5,900 m² advanced manufacturing facility specializes in complex components, including titanium micro-implants for oncology treatments, a technology that earned the company the Award for Excellence in Innovation and Technology.
