October 2025—One year ago, Evolution Free Zone officially opened its doors in Tacares de Grecia, Costa Rica. In just twelve months, our High-Tech Business Park has established itself as a preferred business hub for ready-to-scale companies—a place where success stories come to life through innovation, sustainability and strategic collaboration.
Developed by CODE Development Group, Evolution Free Zone spans 124 hectares and is purpose-built to support high-value industries, such as Life Sciences, Smart Manufacturing, Semiconductors, and Knowledge-Intensive Services.
Eight global companies, including OEMs like Johnson & Johnson MedTech and Inari Medical (now part of Stryker), as well as key suppliers such as Accudyn, Trelleborg Medical Solutions, Intricon, and AVNA, have chosen Evolution Free Zone as their home. This year, Switchback Medical and Segex, also joined our Industrial Park, reaffirming our position as the fastest-growing business ecosystem in Costa Rica.
These investments have already confirmed over the first 6,000 high-quality direct jobs, reinforcing our role as a catalyst for economic and social development in Costa Rica. Over the next 15 years, the companies operating in our Park are expected to offer more than 20,000 high-quality job opportunities.
Developing for the Future
Our commitment to regional development is rooted in action. One of our most significant contributions during the last years was the construction and donation to the Costa Rican government of a 1.5 km overpass connecting Evolution Free Zone directly to Route 1—an infrastructure milestone that enhances mobility, efficiency, and public-private collaboration.
We also completed the infrastructure of the Park’s first Phase, which led to Evolution Free Zone being featured in Grandes Obras 2024 by the Costa Rican Chamber of Construction, a recognition that highlights our leadership in Real Estate development and environmental stewardship.
Phase 2 began in January 2025, with a total projected investment of US$200 million by the end of Phase 3. To May 2025, we have developed 155,952 m² of construction footprint, integrating certified materials, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable design principles—laying the foundation for long-term success.
From the outset, Evolution Free Zone has embraced cutting-edge technology, becoming the first industrial park in Costa Rica to implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) starting from the design phase, optimizing resource use and enhancing sustainability.
We also concluded the construction of a TIER III Data Center—positioning our Park to meet the demands of a hyperconnected, secure, and resilient business environment.
We earned the “essential Costa Rica” country brand license, underscoring our dedication to excellence, innovation, social progress, and environmental responsibility.
Environmental positive impact
In our first year, we have taken meaningful steps to ensure that success stories at Evolution Free Zone are established with a commitment to environmental stewardship. To date, we have planted 3,350 native trees to restore and protect local biodiversity, while launching educational programs on biodiversity and waste management that reached over 100 students in nearby communities.
We implemented smart lighting systems that adjust to ambient conditions, reducing energy consumption and improving reliability. Our infrastructure includes advanced wastewater treatment, potable water systems, and clean energy-ready facilities—all designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing operational efficiency.
Empowering Talent and Community
People are at the heart of every success story. That is why we have partnered with the National Institute of Learning (INA) to establish a training center in our Next-Generation Business Ecosystem, to offer specialized technical and operational programs tailored to the needs of the Life Sciences sector.
The programs are design to provide individuals with skills in precision mechanics, quality control, medical manufacturing practices, and English proficiency, with the goal of training up to 250 persons annually. This initiative will provide real opportunities for technical growth and social mobility across the Western Region, making us the first Industrial Park in the country to offer this solution on-site.
