Agreement will facilitate new technical programs starting in 2026
July 2025 – The Western Region will have new programs to strengthen technical training and improve the employability profile in the Life Sciences sector, with the aim of boosting its social and economic development.
Thanks to a framework cooperation agreement between the National Learning Institute (INA) and CODE Development Group, developer of Evolution Free Zone (Tacares de Grecia, Alajuela), there will be a new physical training space to offer technical and operational programs in high demand.
This space will be located in the Evolution Free Zone (EFZ), where INA will offer technical and operational programs in high demand. CODE Development Group will provide the necessary infrastructure -classrooms, workshops and basic services, such as electricity, Internet and water- while INA will provide equipment, materials, teachers and specialized curricula.
The center will have workshops, classrooms, a metrology laboratory, and a clean room for training in the medical industry, among others, which will enable the training of personnel in high-demand positions.
“The boom of companies in the Life Sciences sector in Evolution Free Zone encourages us to promote even more the training of talent in the West, generating new opportunities for quality employment. The specialization of personnel is a fundamental point for the attraction of leading companies. This implies the joint work of the public and private sectors, as we are doing hand in hand with the INA”, added Carlos Wong, Managing Director of CODE Development Group.
Training with direct impact on employment
This effort in alliance between both organizations, arises from the need to train skilled human talent in a constantly growing sector such as the medical device industry. This collaboration will provide real opportunities for job placement and professional growth to people from the cantons that make up the Western Region.
The training programs that will be offered include:
The first training processes are expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with an initial capacity of at least 100 places, reaching 250 trained people per year as the project develops.
At Evolution Free Zone the projection is to generate 20 thousand quality jobs within the next 15 years, 6 thousand of which have already been secured with the first companies that have confirmed their arrival at the Park. This agreement is a clear example of how cooperation between the public and private sectors can create concrete solutions to the training, employment and economic growth needs of regions throughout the country. INA and CODE Development Group reaffirm their commitment to the transformation of human talent as a key driver for the competitiveness and well-being of communities.
