Evolution Free Zone strengthens biodiversity conservation in the Western Region through the planting of 430 native trees

August 2026. Through the planting of 430 native trees in 2026, Evolution Free Zone continues to advance its reforestation efforts, reaching a historic total of 4,750 trees planted across the Western Region of Alajuela. This initiative reinforces our commitment to conserving natural ecosystems and protecting biodiversity in the region.

The activity brought together 125 employees from CODE Development Group, who participated in planting native species including Espavel, Guachipelín, Ron Ron, Aguacatillo, Guayaba de Mono, Papaturro, Roble Sabana, Cortés Morado, Sotacaballo, Dama, Manzanita, Jacaranda, Jícaro, Cas, and Guayaba. These species were selected for their ability to adapt to the local environment, contribute to ecological connectivity, and provide food and shelter for wildlife.

The initiative also contributes to strengthening the El Achiote Interurban Biological Corridor, which spans areas of Grecia and Poás, while supporting the creation of natural environments that contribute to wildlife conservation by providing new areas for shelter, foraging, and habitat for birds, insects, and mammals.

“Every action reminds us that sustainability is built through participation and commitment. Planting 430 new trees reinforces our commitment to conserving natural ecosystems and advancing a responsible development model that generates environmental, social, and economic value in the communities where we operate,” said Luis Fernando Vargas, Sustainability Manager at CODE Development Group, developer of Evolution Free Zone.

The project also includes a maintenance plan with watering and monitoring activities to support the survival of the species during their early growth period, maximizing their contribution to ecological connectivity and local biodiversity. Through initiatives like this, Evolution Free Zone advances sustainable development in the Western Region by engaging employees and organizations in actions that benefit local communities and the environment.
