The work of Evolution Free Zone improves infrastructure on Costa Rica’s Route 1

“San José-San Ramón Road Corridor and Iits Radial Rroads”, is a public work, with public service, which includes the General Cañas Highway and the Bernardo Soto Highway, covering 55 km of highway and impacting more than 30 cantons of Costa Rica.

One of those cantons is Grecia, where the Evolution Free Zone project is located. The park has direct access to Route 1, one of the most important highways in the country and used by around 90,000 vehicles on a daily basis.This location has direct effects on the population that drive through this route daily. Nowadays, Route 1 is used on a daily basis by around 90,000 vehicles in both directions.

Additionally, the engineering team in charge has contemplated having an additional lane at the entrance of the Free Zone, to avoid a congestion of vehicles going in and out of the Free Zone, also including two side areas that come from the main route.

“When we say we want to see progress in the Western region, we really mean it. This implies that even during the construction stage, the local residents are not going to see their routine affected by vehicle congestion in various sections of the route”.

On our end, we are not going to stop traffic on Route 1 at any time, except when we have to assemble the bridge. However, the plan is to perform this work at night and giving prior notice to the community, considering risk factors. This work will also be coordinated with the relevant authorities”, concludes Wong
